Will 2025 Be The Year Of The Mini-Business?
Mini-newsletters, mini-communities, and mini-memberships are just a few of the "mini's" that will dominate in the upcoming year.
Thank you for subscribing to The Strategic Networker! You can always join my community and support my work by upgrading to a paid subscription here. This newsletter is used for business development and is an educational resource so it could likely be expensed through your company.
Nobody knows the future.
And business trends in the years to come are heard to predict.
But history tells us that business developments are usually …
Stronger … bigger … faster.
But what about smaller?
After all, we’ve all heard …
Less is more
Small but mighty
Good things come in small packages
If 2024 was any predictor of the future, then year 2025 will be the year of the “mini-operations”.
The Popular “Mini’s” in 2024
💼Mini-Businesses
Mini-businesses are incredibly popular and have been for some time.
A mini-business, or sometimes called a micro business, is a type of small business that has fewer than 10 employees.
They are a small-scale business with fewer employees than a typical small business. The definition of a mini-business can vary by country and industry.
Platforms like Uber, DoorDash, and Etsy have made it easier than ever to start and run small, independent businesses.
📖 Mini-Courses
A mini course is a short, condensed version of a traditional course that focuses on a specific topic or skill.
They are designed to be completed in a short amount of time, usually a few hours to a few weeks. They are often used as a marketing strategy to help creators build trust and credibility, and to generate revenue.
They are increasingly popular because they are:
Short and focused, perfect for busy schedules
Often have lower costs than traditional courses
They are available online, allowing learning anytime, anywhere
Mini-courses are here to stay.
🎥 Mini-Videos
Mini-videos, also known as short-form videos, are short, engaging videos that are typically under 60 seconds long.
They are designed to grab attention quickly and are popular on social media platforms like TikTok Clips, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
Short-form videos have undeniably taken the world by storm. They are easily digestible in today's fast-paced world, perfectly suited for mobile viewing, and don't require expensive equipment.
The Emerging “Mini’s” in 2025
👨👩👧👦 Mini-Communities
Mini-communities are small groups of people who come together for a specific purpose. They can be intentional communities, such as neighborhood communities; or micro-communities, such as mastermind groups.
Even if mini-communities aren’t a fit, mini-memberships may be the answer.
Mini-memberships offer some of the benefits of a full membership, but with more flexibility. They are often offered by clubs and organizations, such as golf clubs, photo studios, and private groups.
My Strategy: I’ve already launched The Strategic Network community and now plan to launch mini-communities within that community that include networks for local markets and vertical industries.
📰 Mini-Newsletters
A mini-newsletter is a short, focused email-based communication that delivers content to an audience quickly.
They are a convenient way to send out engaging content without spending a lot of time on a lengthy email.
Benefits include:
Shorter emails are less intimidating for readers than lengthy ones.
People are more likely to read and digest a quick, bite-sized pieces of content
Consistent mini-newsletters keep your brand or message consistently in front of subscribers.
Shorter emails are less likely to trigger spam filters.
Expect mini-newsletters to surge in popularity in 2025 as readers crave more curated, high-quality information that can be delivered directly to them.
My Strategy: Launch mini-newsletters that help and connect professionals in local markets. So far, I have launched min-newsletters in ten regions:
📰 Mini-Coaching
Professional coaching can be expensive.
Very expensive.
Many professionals want to “try-before-you-buy” coaching which isn’t fair to the business coach (offering time and service at no cost) and the client (who won’t be committed to the coaching program).
The solution?
Mini-coaching.
A relatively new term, mini-coaching is a short-term coaching engagement that allows a person to start coaching immediately on a topic of their choice. It's a good option for people who want to get unstuck and take action without a longer commitment. However, mini-coaching may not be suitable for topics that require deeper discussions or a lot of context.
Offering “mini-coaching” sessions and shorter (but paid) coaching sessions will build trust and commitment with the respective coach.
The concept of group coaching has also become popular over the years.
Coaching that includes peer support at a reduced cost is very appealing.
Professionals enjoy the benefits of intensive coaching in half the time and at a fraction of the usual cost.
My Strategy: Let the members of my community launch mini-coaching sessions on our platform at discounted rates to gain traction while providing valuable services and guidance to other members.

Great suggestions. Going to try a version of mini-coaching.
I love the idea of mini-businesses, and that's exactly what I'm trying to do this year: build a portfolio of mini-businesses. It feels less risky and so much more fun.
