Thankfully, Networking Isn’t Just For Connecting Anymore
Most professionals never tap into the full potential of networking. Strategic networking provides a way to reach the unreachable, connect with the unconnected, and share insights into the unknown.
Historically speaking, networking was always relatively easy to understand.
Go to networking events
Join a networking group
Collect business cards
Follow-up
Repeat
Today, it’s a whole new ballgame. Networking has evolved into so much more than just connecting with people. Strategic networking, in particular, has become multi-dimensional as it is filled with intricate channels, interactive tools, and creative strategies.
I’ve always been told that professionals need business networking to meet target clients, generate referrals, and sell to new customers.
When surveyed, professionals said their top three reasons for networking were:
Get referrals
Generate leads
Close sales
Although these ARE very important reasons to network, there is so much more that can be done with your networking time and efforts.
The possibilities are endless.
Reach the Unreachable
What was once impossible is now possible with strategic networking.
Want to reach one of the most successful business leaders in the world?
Someone did just that with Mark Cuban through a cold email.
It’s not luck … it’s not being super-connected … and it’s not often even hard work.
It’s having a strategy.
Connect with the Unconnected
You’re not connected with your target client on LinkedIn?
No problem! Just send a personalized connection request through LinkedIn explaining why you should be connected and the value you can bring to the table.
You don’t have the phone number or email for that prospect you just met?
No biggie, just send an Instant Message (IM) through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or another online platform.
Can’t reach that company representative you met with three months ago regarding a technical issue you’re having with a new product you purchased?
Don’t sweat it! Just reach out for help through the company’s website, chat, or toll free phone number.
I don’t believe there are “unconnected” people in this world anymore unless it’s someone living in a login cabin somewhere in Montana for the last twenty years.
Sharing Insights on the Unknown
Although we have come a LONG way with technological advancements over the last couple decades, there is still so much that is unknown.
What is the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
How will voice, video, and data enhance our lives five years from now?
What planets will we be living on fifty years from now?
I’ve heard each of these subjects being discussed at recent networking events and observed some fascinating insights from people who are working on these very feats.
We have an amazing world that is constantly evolving … don’t miss out.
